Friday night jam at Midtown Sports & Wellness
In a perfect world, everyBody would work out on Friday nights. If you picture it, it’s the perfect pre-party for your body.
Here in Albuquerque, it is unusual to see a crowd of people working out. People are usually ready for happy hour. With our Nia community, however, any excuse to dance and get that high from group energy, will get us going!

Dear Ana,
You sound like you have a really fun packed full day every day – wish I could catapult through my day with as much grace and style via NIA as you do. I know that everything you do is not always fun – some is work but you seem to make it fun with your attitude toward life in general as demonstrated in the enthusiasm and playfulness you put into all your Nia dance sessions with us – your students. It is contagious and you make our day even better as well. Wish I could think of all the cute and funny things you say throughout your routines with us – where does it all come from in your head, body , mind and spirit. I also like the way we have become friends with you and the other dancers in the class – sharing some of our lives with each other makes life more interesting! Keep up the good work. Take care, Ginnie Marshall

Ginny!
My days are certainly “packed.” As all of us find, however, living this 21st century lifestyle is not without hazards. Sometimes the river that surrounds us is a torrent, filled with unexpected objects that can surprise us, whack us on the head if we are not careful. I think that by nature I am an optimistic person. What Nia gives me is a discipline in those 4 realms you mentioned so that I can navigate through my days, staying RAW and dancing through life.
As for the things I say, some of those things are spawned by a practice we learned in the NIa Blue Belt. I wish I had a video or tape recorder to “catch” all of them.
I really look forward to our time together in class, and as friends outside of class. See you next week!
